things to make the world better

While peace would certainly make the world a better place and after last night's speech by Gen. Wesley Clark, I believe that electing him to political office would make the world a better place, there are some other things that I think would (at least) improve my world and I intend to list them here.

1. Serial number stickers: All items that come with serial numbers should come with extra stickers. You can put one in your planner and the other on the item in question, specifically software cds. Am I the only person incapable of putting software back in it's cd case? Surely, I am not the only person who loses serial numbers. Well, here's a brilliant thought--a serial number sticker could go on the cd and while, granted, you'd need to take the cd out of the drive to read it, at least you'd have it when you needed it.

2. Thumb looped sleeves: For Christmas my sister gave me this great, really warm shirt that she got from Taos Mountain Outfitters (what Borders is to me...). This shirt, Icebreaker 220 (I think), has little loops for your thumb turning the sleeve into a kind of extended fingerless glove. For me this is great because I have cold hands and generally tug my sleeves down over them anyway, but apparantly their intended function is to keep your sleeve from being pushed up when you put on additional layers. I now know for certain that I'm not the only person who plays tug-of-war with long sleeve shirts under sweaters and jackets. I think that this is such a great idea that all shirts should have these. And it would be simple to add them without altering the look or basic design of the shirt. All women know the little satin straps that come inside dresses and shirts and are used for hanging them up. Mix the two products and we have little satin straps sewn into the sleeves of shirts. Put your thumb through the loop when adding layers to your clothing and remove it when you're done. No more annoyingly bunched up sleeves.

Yes, I realize that I just took the time to blog this idea and should probably be doing something more constructive, but bunched up sleeves are no joking matter.
