addendum to previous anti-pundit post
So, I would like to make a small addition to my previous post. No, I am not going to take back what I said about pundits. But I last night both candidates got the hot seat. Unfortunately, none of the questions were actually legitimate issues, rather they were based on gossip and rumor. They certainly reflect the media's tendency to locate and publicize "gotcha" moments--instances of poor word choice, emotional response, etc. Ah, and we must not forget "guilt by association," where another person's words are used to question a candidate's integrity. Far be it from me to defend John McCain (because I think he's crazy) but Bill Cunningham's words were not McCain's and though he was speaking at a McCain rally, as Barack Obama pointed out last night, you can't control who supports you. Obama himself was questioned because of Louis Farakhan's publicly announced support. Enough ranting; I have word to do.
